About

We are a wife and husband team who run a music school. She is the talented one, a conservatory-trained violinist and an exceptional teacher. He handles everything that is not teaching, for no pay.

We put the playbook together because we wished it had existed when she was starting out. She spent years shuttling between three and four music schools, driving across town between lessons, making $30 an hour. Trained, talented, and completely undervalued by a system that was never going to fix itself.

It took six years to get from there to here: a school with multiple instruments, a faculty we are proud of, and a student community that markets itself through word of mouth. She charges $100 an hour now and turns students away when we are at capacity.

We did not follow a playbook. We figured it out slowly, made mistakes, and gradually learned what actually moves the needle for a local studio. The playbook is everything we know, written down in the order we wish we had learned it.

We write under pen names.
